# BlackJack Tutorial

### BlackJack Game Objective

The objective of the BlackJack card game is to obtain a score as close to 21 as possible without going over, and at the same time obtaining a score that is higher than the dealer.

Losing or "Busting" = If your score exceeds 21, you "bust", which means you lose your wager.

Winning = Should your score, on the other hand, be closer to 21 than the dealer, you win as much as you wagered.

"Push" = If your cards total the same number as the dealer (from 17 to 21), no one wins the game and you receives your wager back.

"BlackJack" = BlackJack beats a score of 21 that consists of 3 or more cards. BlackJack is achieved when your first 2 cards total 21.

### Card Values in the BlackJack Game

• The suit of the card has no meaning in this game.

• Cards 2 through 10 are the face value.

• Jacks, Queens and Kings are all valued at 10.

Aces can count as either 1 or 11. If you are dealt 2 cards, a 8 and an Ace as example, you can either count it as 9 or 19. The 9 is obtained if you count the Ace as 1, so thefore it is calculated as (8 + 1), and the 19 is obtained if you count the Ace as 11, and is calculated as (8 + 11). You can change the value of the Ace as the hand progresses. This means that should you decide to draw a third card with a value of 2, as example, you could keep the value of the Ace as 11. This would give you (8 + 11 + 2) = 21.

In some varients of the BlackJack casino games, an Ace may only have a value of 1. This has to be checked on the specific casino and game you are playing at the online gambling casino.

### Betting or Wagering

Prior to receiving any cards, you must place a wager. Once the wager is made, you are dealt two cards face up. The dealer is also dealt two cards, one facing up and one facing down (This is depending on which BlackJack version is being played. This will have to be checked against the casino and game rules you are playing). The dealer’s card will remain face down until you have completed your hand (Again, this is depending on the BlackJack version that is being played. Check this against the casino and game rules you are playing).

### General BlackJack Terminology / Casino Game Interface

Here is some of the general terminology you will find in the various BlackJack games.

Deal
Clicking on the deal button after placing a bet will start a new game.

Hit / Stand
The Hit button will deal you an additional card. The Stand button will keep your hand at its current value.

Split
If your first two cards are of the same value (i.e. 8 and 8, or Jack and King) you may split them into 2 separate hands, placing a second wager of equal value. You then proceeds to draw cards as usual, with the following exceptions:
If you split two aces, you receive only one additional card for each hand. A hand totaling 21 after splitting aces is considered 21, not BlackJack.

Double
When you have been dealt two cards and believe that a third card will give you a position to beat the dealer’s hand, you can “double.” Your wager is doubled, and you are allowed to hit and receive just one additional card.
